Hey!  Guess what - your program already does what I just asked.  I just inserted this at the beginning: "http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/all/2/p/001" and then inputted my jpeg number.  Even though I indicated sol 1 in that string, using the example with "001" just as indicated, it came back with information teling me the near correct sol - I think it said 1303 instead of 1304.  So, it already works the way I had asked!

Cool.

I have used this and it worked great for what I was doing!

One possible improvement - what if I only have for example - this number below and I want the sol #?  i.e.:

2R242128564EFFAUH8P1312L0M1

 - is there any way it can be programmed to estimate the sol # from inputting this number alone?

Many things I found early on I didn't think to save the sol # with the image, so this would be a useful function for me.

I have started a new thread as this is a new subject, but feel free to put it where you like.

I have finished the program and it can be accessed from the Mars Rover Photo Name Decode program or here if you prefer. Let me know any problems.
