Alien Anomalies

Over the years I have come across some very interesting and unusual geological formations. The object seen below is unusual in the sense that it appears to look artificial. The image was initially saved as a 400% screen capture of the original download which was saved as a png file in Paint Shop Pro. I then cropped the image to 800 pixels wide and saved the crop as a jpg file. Note the lack of compression artefacts by using this technique. This is the raw image and no other adjustments have been made.

The anomaly in question is near the centre of the view.

Do any members have any views as to what this peculiar shape could be?
