Nice tip, Humanoid. You can also do this with any graphics software. When the image is on your computer screen, just hit the button on your keyboard labeled "Print Screen." Then open your graphics program, if it is not already open. Then begin a new image of a large size. Then simply paste (edit-paste or control-V are the typical commands) the screenshot into the new image. Combine the object (your screenshot) into your new image, and save it to disc. All done.
This method even works with protected images that can't be saved to your computer otherwise.
Welcome to the forum radtech34, you're not alone in your frustration at NASA airbrushing images and I absolutely share it! It happened to me a few times and now I have learnt my lessons- every time I see something interesting I save the image or take a snapshot of my screen plus taking note of the file properties, although it doesn't really help in proving to others that NASA is at foul play here, once they have "replaced" the original! Anyhow there's a way to save images that are otherwise impossible (not permitted) to be saved. This is by using any proprietary software (like HyperSnap) that allows you to take a snapshot of your whole screen or any part of it, much like scanning images/docs when you're given the option of scanning the whole image/doc or just a certain part of it.
Welcome radtech 34 We share your frustration as this happens more often than you would care to believe, we also have found that they 'degrade' images with anomalies. I imagine Humanoid may be able to tell you how to save the image.....
i wish i had proof of what i am going to say here,i was looking at the nasa hirise website just after the hirise satallite started relaying its first pictures,i don't even remember the date,i was just looking at pictures they had uploaded to the site, each picture then had a zoom function, you could actually zoom quite close,i saw in the bottom corner of one photo what looked like a profile of a human face, quite large,i even thought i was just seeing something into it,so i started zooming in and out around it,and zoomed behind what i took for the profile of the eye, nothing at first, but as i zoomed closer i saw it,another face, not a trick of light,i was zoomed in on it directly overhead,2 eyes a nose and a mouth, perfectly set,no question,i must have zoomed in and out 30 times,on full zoom it was about the size of a 50 cent piece.i got very excited and even sent enterprise mission an e-mail with the link and description of where i saw the face, there was no way to save the image, but it was on their site,i had them,i thought, the next day i returned to see my discovery only to find the part of the photo with the face and profile was cropped off and the image was of course smaller, the next week after that, the image was deleted, how i wished i had taken a picture of my computer or a video of my screen, more than one face,i dont like people who lie,i am honest,i work as an x-ray technologist,i am mad,and we should all be upset at nasa for all their coverups,Thank you Mr. skipper for all your hard work,i am behind you 100 percent,i always show my fellow coworkers your work, cant wait to see your book Steven Marlow R.T.r
