as of October 2015 I am afraid most of the programs have disappeared, however, if you want to use them send me a private message and I will try to ressurect them or at least the ones you need. It was some pesky Russian who broke the site and I have not found time and inclination to get it going again.

I am still about so send me a pm if you need these programs.

Another program for you all to test for me please. I hope it will be useful.

Now that we have many more mars rover photgraphs in the database, we can start to do more interesting things with the information. This new program takes the name decode program a little further and gives the marsrover site photos and their corresponding PDS images. It also takes the lyle.org format and recognises it, and gives back links to the marsrovers site. (see the examples on the input form page)

One warning however. There are no RAD-type files in the marsrover image gallery so I have driven the search from the database of photo ids rather than the url input. You will see what I mean when you try it.

I have not put it on the menu yet as I want to re-organise the index page. This is the only link to the new program for the moment.

Please test it and let me know what does not work.
Use the "contact Us' form on the web page.

The program will take 10-15 seconds to run because it does a look-up and returns the size of the file when you mouse-over the link.
File Decode and Link to PDS (dont know what to call it!)

added today, a program to make a URL sharper and take out some of the jpeg compression artifacts. It uses javascript so that you can see what effects it has and you can open the results in new windows/tabs so that they can be compared against each other. It is called Photograph Sharpener and Conditioner and is also experimental.

I dont know if it will be useful, but I have found that it does make some pictures better, and for those who do not have very good software, it might help, although even the most basic software has sharpeners and blurs...

Let me know any bugs please by using the contact form on the index page/home page.

I may not see it if you post it here..

Masterful work,, really impressed. The shadow programs a delight. Would there be a facility in the future to also use a url as an input source?

Keep up the amazing work Gmantoo

I have done a bit of tweaking and added a list of the results to the search program. On the results screen, if you click on the black square with the large white spot in the middle you will be taken to a screen which lists the photo ids. You will have to highlight and copy these yourself to an editor or paste into a forum post or whatever. I have only documented this here on this forum so far and it will probably remain a 'hidden feature'.

Also, there is a more interactive photo colouriser which uses javascript. You input the black and white photo URL and the next screen shows the palettes. You click on each of the different palettes to 'colourise' your photo in real time (although it takes a few seconds to do it!). When you are happy with the chosen palette, you click on the palette-applied photo on the left and it will give you the full size image colourised to that palette.
You will need to right-click and save-as to save your newly colourised photo. The original URL is given at the top so you can copy the photo ID if you want.

Mars Rover Photograph Search

I have created a subdomain specially for these programs now. When you get there, click on the title to return to the Index Page

http://mars.pelicanbill.com

There is a Search Program where you can search by:
Sol
Date range
Site where the photograph was taken
Filters
Camera

There is also a Sol 2 Date/Date 2 Sol conversion program that is fairly accurate.

Let me know if there is another utility you need or would be useful.
