It is looking more and more like NASA wants us to see water in these images. Once more people get to believe that there are all these kind of things on Mars maybe NASA will come out with it all. (I can continue to hope I suppose)
It is common to see the waterfront and river, where the water has eroded in such a way that the accompanying photos show. This supports theory of water erosion, however, is not direct proof because this can also happened due to weight, for example, wet soil, but, in conditions where vegetation binds sloping surface.
Besides that providing wrong basic facts, it is the second most powerful trick to confuse the aspect ratio. I am convinced that the location of Curiosity, is not true. The data that have already been studied support the opposite. It is always the same problem, by giving up false assumptions controls NASA the way people think and see.
As you know, this picture is from Mars. Then comes the question: Is there anything in this picture suggests that there is a lifeless environment ? This picture could just as well be taken on Earth, but because it is not, there is reason to believe that NASA did not follow the general principles of truthfulness and honesty.
