Hi Levelwind. I particularly like the rectangular middle one of the 3 images you posted. The shadow beneath shows very clearly that it's a thin folded material, not a rectangular chunk.

I hardly ever look at Opportunity's images. It's a good find. smile

Thanks Sapa. I thought the same thing too. I don't know if it's the exposure or if they really are that glossy? We have seen

some glazed looking pieces on the Curiosity photos but this is the first time I've seen Opportunity photograph them. The one

with the big flat surface is what caught my eye first.

Levelwind.I was going to say that glassy materials fracture in this irregular way but then took a good look. Yes it's a good find, here's a few bits I noticed to add to yours. Well Found!

Wow, it really does look a lot different in the raw image. And good catch with the tampering. I don't know what to make of it.

The resolution and tampering leave us at a great disadvantage. I do love to look at these photos and speculate but I'm always left with

more questions than answers. confuse

Also please look at surroundings. Particularly the deep linear shadow immediately above it. The position of the camera is changed very slightly

goggog: I found this in the RAW images. It looks a lot different.

(Levelwind: The link you gave ( http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/msl/multimedia/images/?ImageID=7505 ) has been white balanced "The colors are adjusted")

I've applied a few filters. On the side is something that hasn't shown in the other image, has some tampering around it.

Curiosity is going through some pretty neat looking stuff again.

If you look at the shadow to the left end of the "rock", you can see it's hollow and at the top left edge things are curling into it.

I enhanced the view a little. I think it's wood. It certainly looks like wood.(that could explain why it's in focus)

The only thing manufactured here is this rock that has been pasted over something.

The only thing in the entire picture that is casting a shadow to the left and how is it

so in focus when rocks right next to it are not?

What I believe to be electrical power lines with insulation that has degraded. In the centre of this image, if you zoom in, is a small machined part with it's empty casing beside it.

Thanks for checking my post out, Goggog really hit one out of the park. I attempted to draw more detail out of the pic he submitted by layering it. There is also something "creeping out" of the object he highlighted. This thread is killer thanks to all the contributors.
