The large white area seen in the above image gives the impression that it is 'floating' but I think this is an optical illusion.

Zooming in closer reveals that it is a surface object although the associated black area does not look like a shadow but an area of water.

This is about the best I can get from this particular HD image but the view gives us a good idea of the many interesting objects to observe.

Note the similar shapes of some of the objects that do not look anything like rocks or boulders but appear to be more like built structures.

Here is a view of another large object that can be seen in the full view.

I have adjusted the brightness and contrast and made the image clearer to view the detail.

Do you think the large bright object in the centre of the image is floating but still casting a shadow?

All comments welcome.

I think I may have found what the large circular shape could be.

Take a look at this Apollo 11 view and compare it with what can be seen in the images above.

It would seem to be the CSM and that would explain why it is not visible on the LROC view of the same area.

Yes, I noticed the patch that is lighter than the rest of the surface but why it should be I don't know.

When examining the surface detail more closely there would seem to be an underlying grid pattern. See if you can spot it.

The view shown below is literally packed with structures that are built so close together that seen from a distance viewpoint would give the impression that what can be observed is the lunar surface and nothing more. This is why close views and enlargements of reasonable resolution and definition are important.

From this view it can be seen that some of the structures have a similar shape and that many of them have small towers or spires protruding from them.

If you zoom in a little the general layout and infrastructure can be observed.

Hi Timewarp with regards to the circular shape just have a quick look at the Apollo photos prior to 11697 in the sequence.

Not withstanding this do you notice the rectangular shape bottom right on the image. I've outlined 3 sides although the 4th seems to blend into its surroundings. I wonder whether this could be as a result of reflection from inside the module?? Again LROC inconclusive.

Here is a view of the upper right section of the main colour image.

Some slight adjustments have been made without changing the object detail.

Members are invited to increase the size of the view by 100% to analyse what there is to see in more detail.

You may be in for a surprise!

In this view, I have increased the brightness and contrast and used the un-sharp mask in an effort to improve the edge definition.

The colour saturation was also increased slightly to show any colour differences between objects.

This view suggests that there are many structures and buildings of different shapes and sizes on the surface but who could be occupying them?

The object detail also suggests that whoever built these structural objects have a high degree of intelligence.

Did man return to the moon secretly? Personally, I don't think we have returned to the moon, so who could these 'people' possibly be?

Viewing the object detail, do you think that there could possibly be alien life-forms in residence on the moon?

You may have to concentrate on the image for a while to recognize the outlines of the object detail.

Once you start spotting the various shapes and other formations you may be quite amazed at what can be observed.

I have not placed any markings on the image as it would spoil the view.

Here is the original enlarged Quickmap view.

I have placed a red rectangle around some of the objects that have a structure-like appearance about them.

The yellow rectangle contains an interesting group of objects - note the tall thin tower.

The green rectangle contains something recognizable and seems to be formed by a group of objects.

Which objects are producing the blue glow, as seen in the image above, I cannot be sure of as this is a LROC monochrome view.

In this image I have used a degree of shadow enhancement to reveal some of the other vague detail and also what could be hiding under the artificial smudge.

There are even more structure-like geometrical objects to see in this crater if you look closely. I wonder what else is hiding under the other areas of smudge?

My apologies for the poor quality even though it's a LROC image. it would appear there are definite structures showing in the view, so who could have built them?

The location of the blue-glowing area can be found on QM at the following coordinates.

Lat:     26.4262 N

Long:   19.9489 E

The image shown below is an enlarged QM view that was rotated 90 degrees to the right.

It looks as though something is, or has been, going on at this location!

Note the square-type objects that have either a hump or tower-like structure protruding.

If you're curious to find out what the blue-glowing object could be, take a look at this very close view.

The colour saturation has been increased deliberately to show the colour differences.

Take note of all the recognizable object detail contained in the view.

When looking at the first image in the thread one gets the impression it is a top-down view, but then I remembered that many of the Apollo orbital captures were carried out using forward and aft cameras. That's why in many of the orbital views there is a degree of vertical and horizontal perspective.

I am not placing any emphasis or further investigation of the large circular shape as it does not show up in the later LROC view.

This is the point in the thread where the object detail seen on the surface becomes really interesting.

If you look closely at the lower two images it can be seen that protruding from many of the surface objects is a tower.

Could these vertical extensions from the surface objects be possible water towers?

In this image I have reduced the brightness right down and increased the colour saturation by 50%.

I have circled in yellow a blue-glowing object seen at the top right.

A large blue-glowing object was found in Aristarchus crater.

In this view I have increased the colour saturation slightly.

You will probably notice that the general overall colour of the surface is a 'dirty' brown colour and not a light grey.

As the large circular anomaly does not show on the QuickMap capture I cannot say what it could be.

Is the object firmly on the surface or is it possibly floating just above the surface and casting a shadow?

The object in itself is most intriguing, but what is even more intriguing is the other object detail on the surface.

All the humps seen in the view are small craters.

Here is a QuickMap view of the location captured at 32m/pixel.

I have placed a yellow circle where the large anomalous circular shape should be.

This view has been rotated 93 degrees to the right.

A long time ago I saved some of the high resolution Apollo images and in a recent search I came across a view that I felt worthy of further investigation.

The image number is AS15-87-11697 and the details of the location are shown below.

Image Collection:  70mm Hasselblad
Mission:  15
Magazine:  87
Magazine Letter:  KK
Lens Focal Length:  60 mm
Film Type:  SO-168
Film Width:  70 mm
Film Color:  color

Latitude / Longitude:  25.5° N / 20° E

Feature(s):  BESSEL, NORTH OF MARE SERENITATIS

Image ref: http://www.lpi.usra.edu/resources/apollo/frame/?AS15-87-11697

For some reason the high-res version is no longer available so I wondered if there was anything in the view that someone didn't want seen.

Take note that this image was captured on colour film which is interesting as a colour difference view can be obtained.

The colour view allows for the colour differences between surface objects to be determined.

The first view is a resized version of the original downloaded colour image and the second image is a close view of the circular shape.

Are the black areas close to the circular anomaly shadows or possibly areas of water?

Have look and see what you make of this anomalous shape.
